Fall in Midtown Austin: Local Events, Patios, & Weekend Favorites
Fall rolls in a little later in Austin than other parts of the country, but the signs are all there: golden hour stretching a little longer, patios packed the second the sun dips low, and the cedar elms along Burnet Road finally start changing color. It's the perfect time of year to spend a little more time outside, whether that's picking up some pumpkin-flavored goodness at a farmers’ market or a crisp morning sipping a fresh cup of coffee on your balcony. At The Anderson, home keeps you near the season’s favorites, with a couple of new spots you’ll want to add to the rotation.

5 Things To Do This Fall in Austin, TX
We created a guide with some of the best outdoor activities in Midtown Austin, along with the local traditions and seasonal events you don’t want to miss.
- Enjoy the Outdoors at Stillhouse Hollow Nature Preserve. Finally, the kind of weather that makes every outdoor plan an easy yes! Stillhouse Hollow Nature Preserve is just off the Jollyville Plateau, with an easy trail that runs along a small creek to a wooden observation deck overlooking a canyon drop. Get some fresh air and enjoy the view along the shaded path, and if you're lucky, you might even say hello to a deer or two out and about. One visit, and this quickly becomes one of your favorite fall activities in Austin, Texas.
- Shop the Season at SFC Farmers' Market Downtown. SFC Farmers' Market Downtown has been the go-to for more than 20 years, and every Saturday, rain or shine, dozens of vendors set up in Republic Square with live music playing in the background. When you get there, order a latte at Creature Coffee Co and plan to give yourself more time than you think you'll need; wandering through the stalls is half the fun. Pick out a pumpkin for the porch, grab some Texas pecans for some fall baking, or buy yourself a bouquet of fall flowers to give your space that warm, earthy feel.
- Try the Fall Menu at Summer Moon Coffee. Summer Moon Coffee has a seasonal menu that's basically its own reason to stop by. Just up the street on West Anderson Lane, less than a 5-minute drive from The Anderson, this local coffeehouse has fall figured out. Order an Apple Crisp Latte if your sweet tooth's calling the shots, or go for an Autumn Cold Brew if you prefer something with a bit more of a kick. The patio is a must when the sun’s out, and honestly, it's Austin, Texas, in the fall at its best.
- Check Out the Lineup at ACL Music Festival. Zilker Park turns into one of the city's biggest outdoor stages when the ACL Music Festival rolls into town. This year's lineup has everything from pop anthems to indie and electronic, the kind of mix that keeps you moving from one stage to the next. It runs across two separate weekends, October 2-4 and 9-11, so missing one doesn't mean missing out.
- Support Local at Pinthouse Brewing. Pull up to Pinthouse Brewing on Burnet Road, order a local craft beer, and bring your dog to hang out on their pet-friendly patio. Mark your calendar for October 31, when this Burnet location is celebrating
its 14th Anniversary Party with a stacked beer lineup, fresh merch, and a food menu made just for the occasion.
