Hit the Ground Running: Spurs Austin International Half Marathon 2026
If you love Austin’s energy and sense of community, mark your calendars: the Spurs Austin International Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
This isn’t just any half marathon — formerly known as the 3M Half Marathon — the event offers a fast, net-downhill 13.1-mile course that’s known as the “Downhill to Downtown” route.
What to Expect
- Scenic & Fast Route — The course starts in north Austin and journeys through varied neighborhoods before finishing in downtown. Expect a gentle net downhill that helps many runners hit their best times.
- Livestream Vibes, Live Music and Energy — The race is known not just for the run, but the fun: spectators, music, energy, and a celebratory downtown finish that captures Austin’s spirit.
- Top-Level Event Organization — With thousands of annual participants from across the country (and even internationally), this race is well-managed, with support and a great environment for beginners and experienced runners alike.
Planning for the Event
- If you or a friend plans to run, registration is open now, so make sure to sign up early.
- Wear layers if you go – January mornings can be brisk in Austin, but the energy warms up fast.
- Consider making a full day of it with breakfast or brunch downtown after the race, or even weekend plans with fellow residents.
